Semper K9 is proud to announce the acceptance of Chief into our Service Dogs for Veterans Program. Chief is a Portuguese Water Dog & Labradoodle Mix donated by the Westbrook Family. Chief is named in honor of Chief Warrant Officer Jeffrey Brooks.
Chief Warrant Officer Three Jeffery Brooks, a distinguished U.S. Army veteran, dedicated 35 years of exemplary service to his country from August 1983 to March 2018. He embarked on his military career with Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he distinguished himself as an Honor Graduate from the Administrative Specialists Course in 1983.
Brooks’s early career included a pivotal role with the 22nd Signal Brigade in Frankfurt, Germany, from 1984 to 1986, where he earned the prestigious title of Soldier of the Year in 1984. Following this, he transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve, continuing his service with unwavering commitment.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Brooks served with the 400th Military Police Battalion in Baghdad from 2003 to 2004. As the Operations Officer for three detention facilities, he played a crucial role in the operational management of these sites. His subsequent assignment in Balad, Iraq, from 2006 to 2008, saw him as the Class IX Officer for the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, where he went above and beyond by volunteering over 600 hours at the hospital, assisting in the transport of injured soldiers and civilians.
In 2005, Brooks graduated from the Warrant Officer Candidate Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama, as a Supply Systems Technician. He further solidified his expertise in logistics during his tenure in Kandahar, Afghanistan, from 2011 to 2012 with the 4th Expeditionary Command. There, he was the Accountable Officer of the first Retrograde facility in Afghanistan and was recognized as the USO Volunteer of the Month in April 2012.
Brooks’s commitment to service extended beyond his military duties, earning him the Combined Federal Campaign National Capital Hero of the Year award in 2014 for his extensive volunteer work.
Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Warrant Officer Three Jeffery Brooks received numerous accolades, including two Bronze Star Medals, a Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, eleven Army Achievement Medals, an Air Force Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (two awards), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and four Overseas Service Medals. His legacy is marked by his dedication, leadership, and profound impact both in and out of uniform.
