Mikey has been doing a great job in his first week of service dog school. He passed the public access test and has been making appearances all over town.

His first stop was in Arlington. Semper K9 attending a Veterans Services Fair at George Mason University. Mikey tagged along and went into a convenience store. Not knowing what he went through in the early weeks of his life, yet knowing he was found roaming the streets with several pups we can only imagine the horrors he faced. One of the things we are working on is confidence around vehicles. We are seeing huge improvements though and with each day that we get him out of the home he is improving rapidly.

Something he does enjoy about vehicles is riding in them. He likes to see people in their cars next to us at the stop light.

We went to the post office to check the mail and he did a great job. He was curious about the noises he heard coming from behind the walls. He saw one of the workers come out of the staff door and figured it out quick. Each time he heard a new noise he would look at the door to see if someone else was going to come out.

We had to go by the pediatricians office. Mikey was unsure about getting in the elevator but once we were safely on board he did fine getting back in the second time. He did great with the other children that were in the office. The nurses wanted to take him home because he is so cuddly.

Mikey

Mikey loves to go outside. We wonder at how long he was in the shelter as he does not like to be kenneled at all. He constantly wants to be outside playing and chewing on sticks!
