Our Programs

Semper K9 Assistance Dogs currently offers the following to help make our mission successful:

Assistance/Service Dogs: Assist a service member with a physical (visible) or mental health challenge (invisible) for service every day for 5–7 years. Fully-trained dogs are capable of bringing calm to a service member with PTSD and/or performing at least three disability mitigating tasks. Apply HERE.

 Family Support Dogs: Provide opportunities for motivational, educational, recreational and/or therapeutic benefit to enhance the quality of life for service members and their families by providing comfort and unconditional love to seriously ill or confined veterans.Apply HERE.

Facility Dogs: Work at the side of a professional caregiver, health care practitioner, or physical or occupation therapist to engage veterans in activities to stimulate healing and recovery. Apply HERE.

Service Dog Maintenance Training: While we provide maintenance training free of charge to assistance dogs that have graduated our program, Semper K9 also provides maintenance training locally for handler’s and their K9 partners. Apply HERE.

Community Education: Semper K9 Assistance Dogs Community Education Program is presented at schools, civic organizations, businesses and government agencies. This program focuses on assistance dog and disability awareness and the impact that service dogs have on our wounded veterans. If you are interested in scheduling our Executive Director to come to your event or meeting please email us at info@semperk9.org. This is no charge to the community, however, we accept donations of any size.

Service Dog Support for Veterans: Semper K9’s Service Dog Support for Veterans is a monthly meet-up for veterans in the DMV who have service dogs. The purpose of the support group is to collaborate together on public access issues, training assistance, and camaraderie. Click HERE for details.

Family Integration Program: Semper K9’s Family Integration Program coaches the families of service members to manage the difficulties they may face when bringing a service dog into their home. FIP is a personalized program, tailored specifically to the needs of each family. This program teaches military families how best to navigate their needs, resulting in stronger and healthier relationships. Click HERE for details.
