Semper K9 is proud to announce the acceptance of MAK into our Service Dogs for Veterans Program. MAK is a Cream Retriever donated by the Spencer Family. MAK is named in memory of Marine Corps combat veteran Martin “Marty” Andrew Krawiec.

Martin “Marty” Andrew Krawiec was born on April 9, 1985, in Bolingbrook, Illinois, Marty grew up in Naperville, where he developed a strong foundation of discipline and teamwork as a student-athlete at Neuqua Valley High School. Graduating in 2003, he excelled in wrestling and football, laying the groundwork for a future marked by both leadership and camaraderie.

Marty pursued higher education at Morehead State University and Western Illinois University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2008. His academic achievements were complemented by his commitment to service, as he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his distinguished military career, Marty served with distinction in Afghanistan, participated in Secret Service security duties for Nelson Mandela’s funeral, and was assigned to U.S. Embassy Guard duty in Zambia, Africa.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Marty moved to Washington, DC, where he met his future wife, Julie. The couple later settled in Arvada, Colorado, where Marty continued to be a pillar of strength and support for his family.

Marty is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Krawiec; his parents, Michael and Lorry Krawiec; his siblings, Tom and Nick Krawiec; his nephew, Jaxson Krawiec; and his lifelong friend, Jake Sheshull.

Marty’s legacy is defined by his unwavering dedication to his country, his love for his family, and the profound impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be honored by those who continue to carry forward his spirit of service and commitment.
