Running with Purpose: Celebrating Team Semper K9 Athletes

At Semper K9 Assistance Dogs, we believe in running for more than just the miles—we run with purpose. Each of our Team Semper K9 athletes is making a difference by fundraising and raising awareness for our mission: providing life-saving service dogs to disabled American veterans, free of charge.

This year, we’re honored to recognize Keith Fleming, one of our 2025 Marine Corps Marathon athletes.

Keith’s Story

For Keith, 2025 marks a milestone year as he celebrates his 50th birthday. To honor the occasion, he’s taking on the 50th Marine Corps Marathon while running with Team Semper K9. His “why” is powerful—Keith runs to honor his dad, a Marine who served for over three years, including a one-year tour in Vietnam.

Keith has been a part of Team Semper K9 since 2022, and he’s seen firsthand the impact of our mission. Earlier this year, he attended one of our service dog graduations, where a dog was named in memory of his father. Witnessing that tribute solidified his dedication to running and fundraising for our cause. As Keith says:

“Service dogs are life-changing for veterans, and I am beyond proud to raise much-needed funds to continue their mission. Please consider helping. Run with Purpose, Finish with Pride. OORAH!”

Why This Matters

It costs Semper K9 approximately $25,000 to fully train and provide a service dog to a veteran. Every mile our athletes run and every dollar they raise goes directly toward transforming lives and giving veterans the independence, support, and healing they deserve.
